100 years this year since the offer to donate Polegate War Memorial Recreation Ground to the parish

Did you know that 100 years ago in 1923 Rupert S Gwynne, the chair of Polegate War Memorial Committee wrote to Hailsham Parish Council [Polegate was a ward of Hailsham] offering the land free of charge. The offer was accepted. The Mayor of Polegate Cllr Douglas Murray has donated a framed decorative scroll to the CIC which is now hung on the wall of the main activity room (former council chambers).
